RANGERS are said to be planning to offer Ianis Hagi a fresh contract extension.
He joined Rangers two years ago this January, when he was signed by Steven Gerrard on an initial loan before his transfer from Genk was made permanent.
The 23-year-old has been moulded into a key component of Rangers’ attacking style under both Gerrard and now Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
Speculation regarding his future has naturally followed with impressive performances on a consistent basis.
However, legendary father Gheorghe insists his son is happy in Glasgow.
And he revealed to media back in Romania that he is close to getting a new deal.
He said: “We were fine, we felt good together, we talked, the family needed us to stay together.
“I stayed for a little while, a week. He looks good, he’s motivated.
“By the way, that’s what I heard and I think it’s from a reliable source, that they want to renew the contract.
“Not as it is written in the press here. He played very well.
“He had an extraordinary year, very good, he is appreciated there and, from good sources, I think they want to renew the contract.”
