Rangers hero Kris Boyd delivers Celtic jibe to Shay Given over Aaron Ramsey move

RANGERS hero Kris Boyd has aimed a playful dig at Shay Given ahead of the Old Firm derby.

The pair both appeared on Sky Sports’ transfer deadline day show and traded jokes ahead of the Celtic vs Rangers derby clash on Wednesday night.

And Boyd was quick to have a go at Given as Aaron Ramsey joined Rangers on a loan deal from Juventus.

Ibrox icon Boyd joked he’s “got the tissues ready” for Given who admitted he’s hoping to attend the match between the Glasgow rivals later this week.

Delivering the cheeky dig, Boyd said: “I’ve got the tissues ready for Shay!

“Unbelievable. There’s obviously been some Welsh internationals played in Scottish football in the past but when you think Aaron Ramsey, he’s right up there if not the best.”

And Given was more than happy to get involved in the Old Firm back-and-forth as he admitted Ramsey is an impressive signing for Rangers.

“The levels Rangers have to go to…Old Firm game on Wednesday night and they bring in Ramsey,” he joked. “It’s a great signing though isn’t it?”

And hailing the transfer business before the deal was formally announced, he said: “If this deal gets done you’ve got to say Rangers, unbelievable bit of business.

“I think with the World Cup  qualifiers coming up as well, he’s not played a lot of football, it’s going to give him an opportunity to get back playing football – fantastic football club.

“I think what it does show though is that Rangers, and Celtic, the size of football clubs that both of them are; they’re huge organisations.

“For me it’s a great move for both parties.”
