Rangers ‘closing in’ on signing of James Sands from New York City

RANGERS are reportedly close to the signing of James Sands from New York City.

The versatile youngster looks set to move to the Scottish champions on an initial loan.

Sky Sports say this will last for 18-months, with the Ibrox club obtaining an option to buy the player as part of the deal.

Sans can play at centre-back or fill in as a defensive midfielder.

He recently won the MLS Cup with NYC, under the stewardship of former Celtic manager Ronny Deila.

He has played 65 matches in the MLS since earning his debut in 2017.

He is also an internationalist, with seven USA caps to his name already, including a Gold Cup win last year.
