Hotel du Vin voted best small to medium chain by Which?

Hotel du Vin has been voted best small and medium chain of the Year in Which?’s latest round up.

The company, which has 19 properties in the UK including Glasgow and Edinburgh, was praised for “high quality stays in unusual locations”.

It scored five out of five for cleanliness and bathrooms and praised for luxury touches including Egyptian cotton sheets and power showers.

The firm favours unusual buildings with conversions including an old sugar warehouse, Georgian brewery and mansion on the edge of Wimbledon Common. 

However, the chain scored three out of five for value for money due to the price with an average room cost of £150 per night.

Interest in Scotland’s luxury hotels has exploded since Covid restrictions were lifted, new research has revealed.

Searches for five-star stays in Scotland soared by a massive 438% last year, with the Scottish Highlands seeing the biggest rise in interest of any Scots region.

The area saw a 60% surge in interest, while Glasgow and the Clyde Valley followed with a 37% rise.

Despite the Highlands having the overall highest rise in interest of any region, the Hotel du Vin in Glasgow saw the largest increase of any hotel, with a growth of 250%.

Inverlochy Castle Hotel in the Highlands came second with a growth of 220% in searches.
