Celtic vs Rangers revealed as dirtiest derby in UK

IT’S always a battle when Celtic and Rangers face each other in the Glasgow derby.

And new statistics have revealed the intense rivalry is the ‘dirtiest derby’ in the UK.

Figures compiled from 2010-11 to current day by bettingexpert highlight the fierce nature of the occassion.

In the 27 matches analysed players were shown 58 yellow cards in the fixture with six sendings off in the same period.

The clearest example of Celtic vs Rangers being the ‘dirtiest derby’ is in the red card stats with there being double the amount than in the Manchester derbies in the same time.

There have also been a staggering 366 fouls in the derby matches since 2010 – which is 80 more than in the North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham.

In contrast to the powderkeg clashes between the Glasgow rivals, there have been no sendings off in the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton since 2010.

If the stats are anything to go by then it points to another hotly contested battle at Parkhead tonight with Rangers looking to stretch their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership and Celtic hoping to claim top spot.
