Celtic captain Callum McGregor opens up on injury recovery as he laughs off face mask inspired nickname

CALLUM MCGREGOR has revealed he’s “feeling good” and recovering well from his facial injury.

The Celtic captain suffered a nasty injury to his face in the Scottish Cup win over Alloa last month.

But he returned to action in the 3-0 win over Rangers sporting a protective face mask.

And McGregor insisted there have been no issues in his return so far as he discussed the injury with Celtic TV.

He explained: “It’s fine and I’m feeling good.

“It seems to have been strong enough to get through the game and I’ve been recovering well so there are no issues so far.”

McGregor put in a leading performance in the derby triumph leading to Celtic fans donning him ‘Cal Mask’ due to his temporary new look on the pitch.

And the midfielder laughed off the new nickname as he admitted it might catch on amongst the Celtic support.

Quizzed on whether he thought it’d be picked up by fans, he replied: “I think it might, aye.

“You know what these social media trends are like.

“Hopefully I don’t need it for too much longer, but everyone can have a bit of fun about it just now. Hopefully it does its job and I’ll be alright.”
